1 C shortening,
2 C sugar,
2 eggs,
2 C buttermilk,
1 1/2 tsp soda,
2 tsp. baking powder,
2 tsp. salt,
2 tsp. vanilla,
about 6 3/4 C flour,

Directions:
Directions:
Keep dough light enough to handle yet not sticky. Roll out on floured board 1/2 inch thick. Cut with doughnut cutter. Carefully lift with spatula and twist to make a figure 8. Place on greased cookie sheet and lightly sugar. Bake at 350º degrees until lightly brown, about 15 minutes.
