1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
4 cups water **
1 cup carrots chopped
1 cup celery diced
1 cup potatoes cubed
2 tsp salt**
1/4 tsp pepper
1 bay leaf
1/8 tsp basil
6 fresh tomatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Cook meat and onions until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients except fresh tomatoes. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add tomatoes. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Serve. Options: A 28 ounce can of tomatoes can be substituted. Use the liquid and cut water to 3 cups. Add with vegetables.
