1 Loaf Day-old Bread (Portuguese Sweet Bread)
1 1/4 Cup Blueberries
16 oz. Cream Cheese
1 Doz. Eggs
2 Cups Milk
1/3 Cup Maple Syrup or Honey

Remove crust from bread, slice in 1" or small cubes. Cube cream cheese. Toss 1/2 of the bread cubes into the bottom of 9" x 13" pan, sprinkle with blueberries and dot with cubed cream cheese, evenly over bread, top with remaining bread cubes. Beat eggs, add milk and maple syrup, pour over bread mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

When ready to bake (next morning or night), remove from fridge and let stand for 1/2 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake covered 1/2 hour and then remove cover and bake another 25-30 minutes until done, it will be puffed and browned.

For Syrup:
Combine: 1 Cup Sugar (Double this part is you like a lot of syrup!)
1 Cup Water
2 Tbls. Cornstarch in Saucepan
Heat over medium heat to boil, let boil for 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring every half minute or so.
add:
1 Cup Blueberries
Simmer 8-10 minutes until berries burst.

Serve warm for best results.
