Place all ingredients except steak into a sturdy, gallon sized resealable plastic bag, seal securely, and shake until the sugar dissolves. Add the steak to the bag, reseal and shake to coat. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight. Remove steak from fridge and let it come to room temperature. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium and place steak on grill. Cook for 8-10 minutes for medium-rare, turning once, or to desired doneness. Remove from the grill, cover loosely with foil, and let rest for 10 minutes.
