3 - 28 ounce cans whole tomatoes, chopped into large pieces
1 - 14.5 ounce can stewed tomatoes
1 - 6 ounce can tomato paste
1 - 15 ounce can tomato sauce
2 small cans mushrooms
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1 t. salt
1/2 t. fennel seed
1/4 t. crushed red pepper
1/4 t. black pepper
1 t. oregano
1 t. basil
1/4 cup barbeque sauce
2 cups celery, chopped medium
1 large onion, chopped medium
1 green pepper, chopped medium
1 1/2 lbs. hamburger, Jimmy Dean plain or Italian Sausage (or a combination)

Mix everything together except meat. Simmer for about 3 1/2 hours. Brown meat and add to sauce or make meatballs, brown and add to sauce. Simmer for another hour.

This is a spicy hearty sauce that I've been serving for all of my adult life. My kids love it. Until now, the recipe hasn't been written down, therefore, every time it is a little different. I think it is a little more spicy the way I make it now. I don't think it's too spicy especially when you pour it over unseasoned spaghetti noodles. Try it! I think you will like it!
