1 c shortening
1&1/4 c sugar
2 eggs
2 t vanilla
2 c plain flour
2&1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt

Directions:
Directions:
Combine shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat until well blended. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Work to blend all ingredients into a smooth dough with a spoon. Pinch and roll dough into 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Flatten each cookie using the bottom of a glass that has been lightly greased and dipped in sugar. Place a pecan half on top of each cookie and bake at 400 for 10 to 12 minutes or until done.
