2 pkg. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 1 1/2 c. buttermilk 1/4 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 4 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Heat buttermilk to lukewarm. In separate bowl, mix water and yeast. To yeast add buttermilk, sugar shortening and salt. In large bowl, mix flour and soda with milk mix. Let stand 10 min. Roll or pinch off and place on greased baking pan; let rise for 30 min. Bake at 425º.
