16 lb. cucumbers
10 lb. sugar
1 gal. cider vinegar
1 box pickling spices with red pepper
1 box alum
1 small can dill seed

Directions:
Directions:
Soak whole cucumbers in brine; 2 c. salt to 1 gal. water; 10-14 days.

Remove and wash cucumbers. Cut to desired size. Soak overnight in alum dissolved in 1 gal. water. Rinse and cover with vinegar for 6 hrs. Place cucumbers, sugar and spices in layers in jars. Cover with vinegar; cap and let sit for a few days.
