7 lbs. or 30 medium cucumbers, sliced cross-wise.

Syrup:
5 c. vinegar
5 c. sugar
2 T. celery seed
2 T. mustard seed
sliced onions (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Place cucumbers in an enamel bowl and sprinkle with 1 c. salt. Mix salt into cucumbers and let stand 1 hr. or loner. Drain and rinse.

Combine vinegar, sugar and spices and bring to a boil in a large pot; add cucumber slices (and onions if desired) to syrup and bring back to a boil. Boil gently for 25-30 minutes. Place in hot sterile jars and seal.
