2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup root beer
2 eggs

1 envelope whipped topping mix
1/2 cup cold root beer

Preheat oven to 375 F. Generously grease bottom of 9 inch pan. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Blend at low speed until moistened, beat 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter into prepared pan, spreading to edges. Bake for 25~30 minutes, or until top springs back when touched in center. Frosting~ Mix together whipped topping & root beer spread on cooled cake. Chill until served.
