2 lbs Ground beef
1 whole Bell pepper
1 medium onion
2 cup fresh mushrooms
1 to 2 jars of canned stewed tomatoes
4 tbs chop garlic
chopped fresh basil
chopped fresh oregano
chopped fresh rosemary
1 cup of red wine
salt & pepper to taste

Directions:

1. Brown ground beef and drain off fat
2. Add bell pepper, onion, garlic, & herbs. fry until tender or until onion starts to turn white.
3. Add tomatoes & tomato sauce and bring to light boil, turn down to a simmer and cook for 2 hours.
4. add mushrooms and wine and cook for another hour.
Taste test and add any of the following ingredients above. Wine will cook out slowly so add another half cup 10 minutes before serving.

Later garlic powder and dried herbs were added to this recipe along with canned mushrooms, canned tomatoes and store canned spaghetti sauce which makes this recipe much richer.
