3/4 c. shortening or butter
1 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 T. milk
1 T. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped pecans (optional)*

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375º. Cream shortening/butter, brown sugar, milk and vanilla. Beat in egg. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans. Bake 8-10 minutes for chewy cookies, 11-13 minutes for crisp cookies. Do not overbake!
*If not using nuts, add an additional 1/2 c. chocolate chips.
