1 1/3 cups sugar
2 2/3 cups applesauce
1 cup butter
4 cups flour
3 tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 small can crushed pineapple, drained
1 jar maraschino cherries, coarsely chopped
4 cups nuts
1/2 pound dates (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Grease and flour two loaf pans. Melt butter and mix with sugar and applesauce. Mix dry ingredients together. Alternately add flour mixture and fruit to applesauce mixture. Bake at 275º for two hours.
