Grandma's cinnamon rolls Recipe

1 tsp 2 cups hot water
1/2 cup sugar
1 T salt
1/4 cup oil or shorting,,(crisco)
8 cups flour
2 eggs

2 pkg dry yeast
1/2 cup extra warm water
1 tsp sugar

Nuts chopped
raisins (optional)
brown sugar
karo syrup..

Directions:

# 1..Put 2 cups hot water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 T salt,
1/4th cup shortening. into a bowl,..mix

#.2.Soften yeast in 1/2 cup warm water,add 1 tsp sugar,,,,let rise just slightly.

Stir above 2 instructions together...

# 3 Add beaten eggs,,with electric mixer,,stir in 4 cups flour, beat thoroughly.

# 4 Stir in remaining 4 cups flour,.,,to a smooth dough............make dough, on the soft side, to make more tender rolls.....

Take out of bowl..and kneed for a few minutes. Put back into large greased bowl..cover with cloth..let rise till DOUBLE IN SIZE..

sprinkle your cutting board lightly with flour,,take 1/2 dough out..and roll into 1/4" thick rectangle..

spread 2 T melted butter,Cinnamon / sugar,sprinkle
on dough, add raisins (optional),
Roll into a jelly roll,,,and cut into 3/4" cuts..place in baking pan...that has been greased.

for caramel roll's...butter pan.sprinkle brown sugar, onto buttered pan...drizzle very lightly with karo syrup..sprinkle water over entire brown sugar..(very sparingly)..this is to make the caramel..add chopped nuts. place cut dough into prepared pan,
place in hot oven

20 minutes /slightly brown...@ 400 degrees.

I have made these roll,,the caramel type..without the karo syrup..(the syrup,,makes the rolls a little more glossy)..
