2 sticks butter
3 c sugar
1 c buttermilk
4 eggs
1/4 tsp baking soda
3 c cake flour
1 c chopped pecans
2 tsp lemon extract
Bakers' Icing for cake:
5 tbsp flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Butter bundt or two loaf pans well. Sprinkle pecans in bottom. Cream butter and sugar. Add buttermilk. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine baking soda and cake flour. Add to butter mixture and mix. Add lemon extract. Pour over nuts. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes in 325º oven.
Icing:
Mix flour and milk. Cook until thick and set aside to cool. Cream butter and shortening until smooth. Beat at least 10 minutes. Combine butter and milk mixtures. Add sugar and vanilla. Beat until thick and smooth. Spread on cooled cake.
