5 cups sliced, peeled cooking apples
2 4 Tbls granulated sugar
c regular rolled oats
c packed brown sugar
c all purpose flour
tsp ground cinnamon
1.4 c butter
1.4 c chopped nuts or coconut (optional)
Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Preheat oven to 375. Place fruit in a 2-quart square baking dish. Stir in the sugar.

For topping, in a medium bowl combine the oats, brown sugar, flour and nutmeg/cinnamon. Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the nuts. Sprinkle topping over filling.

Bake for 30 35 minutes or until fruit is tender and topping is golden. Cool slightly. If desired, serve warm with ice cream,
