1 - 9 inch pastry shell, unbaked

FILLING:
3 or 4 baking apples (about 2 1/2 lbs.)
1/2 c. sugar
2 T. flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 T. lemon juice

TOPPING:
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º.

Make or buy an unbaked 9 inch pastry shell. Pare, core, and slice 7 cups of apples. Place in mixing bowl and set aside.

To Make Filling; Combine sugar, flour, nutmeg. Toss with apples to coat well. Spoon into pastry shell and drizzle with lemon juice.

To Make Topping: Combine ingredients in food processor and pulse to make crumbs. Sprinkle over apples. Slide pie into a heavy brown paper bag, large enough to cover pie loosely. Fold open end over twice and fasten with paper clips. Place on large cookie sheet for easy handling. Bake in 425º oven for 1 hour. Remove from oven, split bag open and remove pie from bag. Cool on wire rack. Serve with ice cream.
