2 cups flour
1 1/2 cup white sugar
2/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Measure all ingredients into a large mixing bowl in the order given. Using a mixer, beat at low speed for one minute. Then beat at high speed for three minutes scraping the bowl often. Bake in a well-greased 9" x 13" cake pan at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes.

This chocolate cake recipe became my standby as it was so much quicker to make as well as a very good recipe. It became THE cake for Louis' birthday with the Penuche Frosting.
