14 tbsp butter
1/2 C light brown sugar
1 3/4 C dark brown sugar
2 C flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
1 tbsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Heat 10 tbsp butter in saucepan over medium/high heat, melt and cook until dark --stirring constantly and not burning. 3 to 4 min. Remove from heat and stir into remaining butter in large bowl. Set aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 350º, put rack in middle. Line baking sheets w/ parchment paper. spread light brown sugar in pie dish to roll cookies in later.
Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Add dark brown sugar and egg + yolk to butter. Mix thoroughly with wooden spoon or spatula. Add vanilla. Add dry ingredients all at once and mix until just combined.
Roll into walnut size balls. roll in brown sugar and place on pan.
Bake 12 to 14 min --don't over bake! They should turn out chewy.
