1 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 cup molasses 1 egg 4-1/2 cups sifted flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon soda 1 tablespoon ginger 1/4 teaspoon salt
Cream together shortening and sugar. Beat in molasses and egg. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into molasses sugar mixture; blend. Chill. Roll out at least 1/8-inch thick. Cut shapes. Bake on greased cookie sheets in 350º oven about 8 minutes. Frost.
