1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white Karo
1/2 c. cream
1 stick butter
1 oz. chocolate
1/8 t. salt
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Place all ingredients except vanilla in heavy saucepan. Do not stir. Cover and boil 5 minutes. Uncover, let boil to hard ball (240-247º). Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour in buttered 10 x 6" pan. When cold, cut in squares and wrap in waxed paper.

Butterscotch Caramels:
Use all brown sugar and omit chocolate.

Cinnamon Caramels:
Use all white sugar, 1 t. cinnamon oil and 1 t. red food coloring.
