one Spice Cake mix
Icing:
1 stick margarine or butter
1/2 cup plus 1 tbs. evap. milk
1 1/8 cup brown sugar
3 cups sifted confectioner sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Bake spice cake according to directions; cool thoroughly.
Icing:
Bring first three ingredients to a boil, stirring constantly. Add confectioner sugar; beat. Stir in vanilla. Stiffens as it cools, so ice cake immediately.

This was Granna's favorite birthday cake in later years. I made it for her every year. She especially loved the icing. I got that recipe from some old lady at South Roebuck. Ready made icing will not suffice!
