1/2 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 1/2 t. salt 1 1/2 c. flour 1 t. baking powder 1/2 c. milk grated rind of 1 lemon Topping: juice of 1 lemon 1/2 c. sugar
Cream shortening and sugar; add well beaten eggs. Mix in flour, salt, baking powder. Put rind into milk and add to first mixture. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350º for 45 minutes. Spread topping over baked bread while hot.
