1 lb package of pinto beans
lb bacon cut into small pieces or 1 tbsp bacon drippings
1 small onion diced
1 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp chili powder
Seasoning salt or salt & pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Cover beans, bacon, and onions with of water, bring to boil, turn down to simmer and add remaining seasonings. Cook 4 to 5 hours until tender, watch closely and add water as needed do not let them go dry but you do not want a lot a water left on them when they are done. Mash and use in any recipe that calls for canned refried beans.
