1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. water
1 stick butter
1 egg, beaten
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Preheat oven to 350.

Put raisins, water and butter in a saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes; then cool. In a separate bowl, stir the egg and sugar until well mixed, then add to raisins. Add the remaining ingredients and mix all until smooth. Spread onto a greased jelly roll or cake pan.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and dust with confectioners sugar or frost with powdered sugar icing.
