3 eggs
4 tbs sugar
250 grams (.5 pound) Mascarpone (an Italian cheese)
250 grams (.5 pound) Savoiardi (Italian cookies, substitute ladyfingers if necessary)
one pot coffee or espresso
50-100 grams cocoa powder (bitter)
Bacardi (optional but recommended)

Directions:

Separate eggs.
Mix egg yolks and sugar until creamy.
Stir in the Mascarpone.
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks
Mix the egg whites into the cheese mixture
Briefly dip each Savoiardi cookie into the coffee, then the Bacardi and then lay them in a 9x12 buttered pan to make a layer
Cover the first layer with the Mascarpone mixture and sprinkle with cocoa powder
Repeat to make another layer.
Refrigerate at least 4 to 6 hours or overnight

This recipe is from an Italian friend named Sarah who we met in Germany. She made this for us there. Be careful eating it at night because, as it turns out, there's quite a bit of caffeine in it.
