Salad:
1 head romaine, or red and green leaf salad, hand torn.
3 stalks celery chopped, [if desired.]
3 green onions, thinly sliced, [if desired.]
1 can mandarin oranges, drained. [I use 2 cans.]
1/2 c. slivered almonds
2 TBSP sugar

Dressing:
2 TBSP white vinegar
1/8 c. peanut oil*
1/8 c. safflower oil*
2 TBSP sugar
3 dashes tabasco, or to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Combine and toss green ingredients, oranges, and almonds.
Blend or shake salad dressing ingredients in jar.
Toss together with salad ingredients and serve.

We serve this salad after the meal, to clean the palate. Therefore I leave out the celery and green onions.

You can vary the ingredients, adding Craisins, chopped dates, or whatever you like. The dressing goes well with and lightly sweet salad.
