1/2 c. dark rum
6-7 tart apples *do not use canned apples
1 c. sugar
2T. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
dash of salt
2 - 9" pie crusts
2 T. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Pare apples - slice thin. Combine sugar, flour, spices, salt and rum. Add apples and mix well. Cover and marinate in refrigerator for 2 to 8 hours.

Once marinated, line your 9" pie plate with pastry. Fill with apple mixture and dot with butter. Place top crust sprinkle with sugar (egg wash optional). Slit top pastry with at least four venting holes. Bake on cookie sheet in pre-heated 400º oven for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
