½ Pound bacon, chopped*
½ Pound Ground Beef *
¾ cup chopped onion
½ cup ketchup
¾ cup dark brown sugar
¾ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 15-ounce can pork and beans
1 15-ounce can butter beans, undrained
1 15-ounce can kidney beans, undrained


* we use 1 pound of ground beef and a pound of bacon

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. In a 3-quart Dutch oven on top of the stove, brown the ground beef and saute the onions. I fry the bacon separately and crumble into beef and onions. Drain the fat and add the remaining ingredients to the Dutch oven. Place in oven and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.

We substitute black beans and lima beans for the kidney and butter beans on occasion. Since its 'chili-like' we've served it with - white rice - corn chips - corn bread etc.
