1 c. sugar
3 T. cornflour
6 T. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
2 T butter
3 egg yolks or 2 whole eggs
2 more T butter
1 tsp. vanilla
whipping cream or meringue

Directions:
Directions:
Combine in a sauce pan the first four ingredients. Mix well. Gradually add milk and 2 T butter.
Cook and stir constantly over medium heat till bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 more minutes.
Remove from the heat and slowly add a string of filling into the beaten eggs. Continue to beat the eggs as you add the filling. Return to sauce pan and cook about 2 more minutes. Stir constantly or it will burn. When it is nice and thick, remove from the heat and add the vanilla and 2 T butter. Pour into a prepared cooked crust.
If you use meringue, spread the meringue on top of pie and bake 12-15 minutes @ 350 or until nicely brown. If you use whipped cream, wait until it is thoroughly cooled to place on top. This can be done as you serve it.
