3/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 egg
1 cup applesauce
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup chopped nuts

Sift together first 6 ingredients.
In a mixing bowl, beat egg.
Add applesauce and oil.
Mix well.
Add flour mixture and nuts.
Stir until blended.
Bake in a loaf pan 50 minutes in 350 oven.
Cool on rack.
If made a day ahead, it will cut better
