1 cup of heinz 57 sauce
2 cups of honey
24 cloves
1/2 tsp of ground cloves

Directions:
Place Ham in large pot and fill pot with water to cover the ham. Do not cover pot with lid. Bring to a boil and let simmer for two hours. While simmering scoop off salt as it rises to the top, and discard.
After simmering period remove ham from water and place on an open roasting pan. With a knife remove skin from ham and leave 1/4 inch of fat on ham. Cut through fat with knife in long strips just enough to see the meat, then change direction of cuts to simulate a diamond effect. Take cloves one by one and pierce through each diamond until the clove is somewhat inserted into the
meat.
Measure honey and liquid into a large bowl and microwave until melted and fairly warm. Stir in ground clove and mix well. Pour half of mixture over ham.

Bake at 350º for 50 to 60 minutes

Personal Notes:
To keep ham upright in roasting pan place a raw potato cut on the diagonal to and place it underneath the ham to give balance while baking. Make sure all of ham is covered with sauce and use the remaining sauce (heated) for serving.
This was my dad's recipe and was always a hit.
