- 1 cup - granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup - shortening
- 1/4 cup - molasses
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups - all purpose flour
- 2 tsp - baking soda
- 1 tsp - ginger
- 1 tsp - cloves
- 1 tsp - cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp - salt

Directions:

Preheat oven 350 f

- cream together shortening, sugar, molasses
- add eggs one at a time
- combine rest of ingredients
- slowly add to sugar mixture
- roll into balls
- roll in sugar
- place on an ungreased cookie sheet, far apart
- do not flatten
- bake 12 - 15 minutes
