1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. old fashioned oats
1/2 c. coarsely chopped pecans
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 large egg
1/4 c. maple syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 c. semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, oats and pecans. In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar and white sugar together for 30 seconds and then add egg and beat until smooth. With mixer running on medium speed, drizzle in the maple syrup and vanilla. By hand, add the flour-oatmeal mixture and then mix in chocolate chips. Drop walnut size dough balls onto parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake for 9 minutes- cookies should be lightly browned on top.

The secret to these delicious cookies is the maple syrup. This recipe makes lots of cookies and they are great for holiday cookie trays or tailgate parties.
