1 large onion
1 clove garlic
2 T. shortening
1 lb. hamburger
1 28 ounce can whole tomatoes, chopped
1 small can tomato paste
1 small can tomato sauce
1 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1 t. oregano

9 or more slices of lasagna noodles

2-3 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Brown hamburger, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, salt, pepper and oregano.

Cook slowly 30 minutes. Cook lasagna noodles as directed on package. Drain. Arrange cooked lasagna in parallel strips in bottom of greased baking dish (about 11 x 7). Cover with hamburger and tomato sauce. Top with mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes. Let stand for 15-20 minutes before cutting into slices.

This is the recipe I have used for nearly my entire married life. I have used other good recipes that have the cottage cheese/egg layer but I always come back to this. My family always liked it.
