1 8 oz. bag of Hershey's Kisses or 8 oz. Wilbur Buds
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. peanut butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. packed light brown sugar
1 egg
2 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
granulated or "raw" sugar for coating

Preheat oven to 375F.
Remove wrappers from the Kisses. Use a mixer to beat the shortening and peanut butter until well blended. Add 1/3 c. sugar and brown sugar to the mixer. Beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk and vanilla, beat again. Whisk together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually beat this into the mixer mixture.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in sugar and place on cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately press a Kiss or Bud into each cookie. The edges will crack. Remove to a wire rack to cool.
