2c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
3 T. butter, softened
1 beaten egg
3/4 c. milk
6 medium apples
1/3 c. cinnamon/sugar
2 T. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Combine the first 7 ingredients in a large bowl. Pour into a greased pan (square?).
Peel and core apples and cut into eighths and press into dough halfway. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar and dot with butter.
Bake for 20 minutes.

This recipe is from a friend and former roomate, Kathy Landis, who woked at the Landis Valley Farm Museum at the time she gave me this recipe. This recipe is from 1850 (modified).
Make the cinnamon sugar by mixing 1/3 c. sugar with 1 tsp. cinnamon.
