"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain
This recipe for Pork Chops and Sauerkraut, by Grandma Targonski, is from Our Family Favorites Cookbook,
one of the cookbooks created at FamilyCookbookProject.com. We help
families or individuals create heirloom cookbook treasures.
6 pork chops 2 apples, sliced crosswise 1 can sauerkraut 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1/4 cup water
In a large skillet, brown pork chops on both sides; add apples and cook about 5 minutes. Place the chops and apples in an oven-proof baking dish. Pour water in the hot skillet and stir to deglaze the pan.
Pour sauerkraut over the chops and apples, and sprinkle with brown sugar. Pour water from the skillet over the dish. Bake at 350 degrees until pork chops are tender.
