3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup molasses
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
2 cups rolled oats

Raisin Filling
1 cup raisins, chopped
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon lemon rind
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening; add sugar; beat until fluffy. Add molasses and dry ingredients; mix well. Spread half of the oatmeal mixture in a greased shallow pan 13" x 9"; press down firmly. Spread with Raisin Filling then cover with remaining oatmeal mixture, pressing firmly. Bake @ 350º F. for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool; cut in 3" x 2" bars.

Raisin Filling
Combine all ingredients; cook for about 5 minutes. Cool before using.
