3 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
2/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 beaten eggs
1/2 cup shortening
1 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups sifted cake flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 cup milk

Combine chocolate, cup sugar, milk, and beaten eggs in saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate melts and mixture thickens; cool. Stir shortening to soften. Gradually add 3 cups sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat after each addition. Blend in chocolate mixture. Bake in 9" pans at 350, 25 to 30 minutes.
