2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup yellow onion, cut in small dice
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup vinegar
1 clove
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 bay leaf
4 Bartlett pears, peeled and diced (roughly 1 1/2 cups)
salt to taste

Heat a large saute pan on medium-high heat. Add the oil and heat for 1 minute. Saute the onion until translucent. Stir in the garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients, except the pears, and cook on medium heat for 6 minutes. Add the pears and cook for 6 minutes. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Serve warm or cold.
