1-1/2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon soda
All purpose flour
1/3 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and vanilla.
2. Mix well
3. Stir baking powder and soda in 1 cup flour.
4. Add to sugar and shortening mixture alternately with buttermilk and beat well.
5. Put in large bowl and gradually work in enough flour to roll out.
6. Use a round biscuit cutter, cut and bake in a 375ºF until lightly brown.

I am 69 years old and I still have happy memories of
childhood days, when my grandmother baked these old fashion tea cakes for me whenever I ask her to. There were always tea cakes as long as grandma was able to
