2 c. brown sugar 1 c. shortening 2 eggs (beaten) 3 c. flour 2 t. soda 1/2 t. salt 1 12oz. can of beer 2 c. chopped dates 1 c. chopped nuts 1 t. cinnamon 1/2 t. allspice 1/2 t. cloves
Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs and blend. Add spices and flour alternating flour and beer until well blended. Add dates and nuts and pour into greased and floured angel food cake pan. Bake at 350º for 1 hour. Drizzle cake with a thin white icing or glaze. Serve.
