1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
3 T. milk
1 tsp. soda in 1 T. hot water
3 medium bananas mashed
2 c. flour
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together sugar, eggs, shortening, baking powder and salt with an electric mixer for 2 minutes. Add milk, soda (with water), and mashed bananas. Stir by hand till well blended. Add flour and nuts. Mix well. Bake in loaf pan for 50 - 60 minutes or until done at 325. Cool thoroughly before slicing.
