2 c. raisins
1c. water
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

Boil raisins and water for 5 minutes and cool. Cream together sugar, shortening, eggs, vanilla, and 1 tsp. of raisin mixture. Beat well with raisin mixture. Mix dry ingredients together and then add to dough. Add nuts and chill dough. Flour hands and roll dough into balls. Flatten to 1/2 in. thick with floured glass. Bake 2 1/2 in. apart on greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes.
