1 c. sugar 1 T. ginger 1 tsp. salt 1 c. melted shortening 2 c. molasses 1 c. hot water 4 tsp. baking soda flour
Put sugar, salt, and ginger together and mix well. Then add molasses and shortening. Put 1/2 c. hot water in and then add baking soda to remaining 1/2 c. of water. Add just enough flour so as spoon will stand up in dough. Don't mix too stiff.
