1/2 cup soft shortening
3 cups sugar
1 egg
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 1/3 cup of flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt.

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 F.
Mix shortening, sugar, and egg. Add rest of ingredients. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Roll into mixture of t tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp. sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes until soft. At first the cookies puff up and then will flatten out.
Store in a covered jar or cookie tin.
Yield: 30 cookies.
