3 cups flour, sifted
2 t. baking powder
1 ½ t. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
½ t. vanilla
¼ c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 F. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening, add sugar slowly and cream until fluffy. Stir in well beaten egg and vanilla extract. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Blend well and chill. Roll ¼ inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut in round or fancy shapes. The cookies may be brushed with unbeaten egg whites, decorated with sliced nutmeats and sprinkled with sugar. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake 10 – 12 minutes. Yield: 3 ½ doz. 3 inch cookies.
