2/3 c milk 2 cans cherry pie filling
1 tsp sugar 1 pkg yeast
1/4 c warm water 4 egg yolks
4 c flour 1 c margarine

Directions:
Scald the milk, add sugar and let it cool. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to lukewarm milk. Stir in egg yolks. In separate bowl, cut margarine into flour until it is like meal (fine crumbs). Stir flour into milk. Dough is soft and moist. Divide dough in two halves. Roll out ½ to fit a jelly roll pan (a large cookie sheet with edges). Lay dough on cookie sheet and press dough up along the edges. Spread pie filling over dough. Roll out the remaining half of the dough to make a top crust. Crimp the crust edges together. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. Cool and frost with a powdered sugar frosting flavored with 1 tsp almond extract.

(Make the pastry the day before Christmas.)

Served with hot chocolate, hot cider, juice, milk, and perhaps other breads. Be sure to keep this out of reach of large golden retrievers!
