1/2 c softened butter 1/2 c shortening
1 c powdered sugar 1 egg
1 1/2 tsp almond extract 1 tsp vanilla

2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first set of ingredients; then add the second set of ingredients.

Divide dough in half. Add 1/2 tsp red food coloring to one half. Make 4" ropes - red and white. Twist into candy cane shapes. Place on ungreased tray After cooking, immediately sprinkle candy cane/sugar mixture on cookies.

Bake for 9 minutes at 375.
